Eyeries News

The Eyeries Official Travel Site has been launched. www.eyeries.ie will provide information and news to support Eyeries Tourism, visits to the Beara Peninsula, and those wishing to tour Ireland or tour West Cork. It will also support local Eyeries news, local Eyeries businesses, local Eyeries accommodation, and provide a gallery of Eyeries photographs.It will also provide a list of suggested activitities and things to do for those visiting Eyeries and the area. Eyeries launches local website

Eyeries Village and the local community are launching their new website, www.eyeries.ie. The official launch will take place in Causkey's Pub on Friday 13 April 2012 at 10pm. All are welcome to come along!

The website has been launched not only to showcase the many points of interest and natural beauty that Eyeries and the Beara have to offer tourists and visitors, but to also provide local residents with a way to commicate to each other - and to global audiences - on a 24/7/365 basis. www.eyeries.ie offers content in a number of areas: http://www.eyeries.ie/about-eyeries.php offers general information on Eyeries and the vicinity as well as a brief history; http://www.eyeries.ie/eyeries-news.php enables Eyeries to communicate local news and events to visitors and local residents; http://www.eyeries.ie/eyeries-things-to-do.php sugggests a wide range of activities; http://www.eyeries.ie/accommodation-places-to-stay-eyeries.php lists local accommodation; http://www.eyeries.ie/pubs-restaurants-eyeries.php lists local pubs and restaurants; http://www.eyeries.ie/businesses-eyeries.php lists local businesses, crafts, and offers Eyeries as a film location to film producers; http://www.eyeries.ie/eyeries-gallery.php provides a gallery of photos of the area; http://www.eyeries.ie/contact-locate-eyeries.php provides details on how to get to Eyeries as well as contact information.

The Wonder of Eyeries


Located on Ireland's Beara Peninsula, a 2 hour drive from Cork City, Eyeries is one of the jewels of Ireland. This small village perched right on one of Ireland's most stunning bays - Coulagh Bay - has some of the most marvellous views in the country.
Often used as a film location because of its beauty and quaintness, Eyeries offers a wide range of activities for visitors:
Enjoy the stunning views - of Coulagh Bay and the Atlantic beyond.
Walking - take some of the most enjoyable walks in Ireland on the Beara Walk. This well marked trail takes a path along the rocky coastline.

Maureen O'Hara Classic Film Festival Comes to Eyeries



Maureen O'Hara has delighted global audiences for an entire lifetime. This year, the Eyeries Family Festival 2011 is honoured to present the Maureen O'Hara Classic Film Festival.


For three days - the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th of July 2911 - Festival visitors will have the chance to see some of Ms O'Hara's most powerful performances. Many of her films - as well as those of her contemporaries - will be screened daily at the Eyeries Dance Hall.


Tickets will be available at the door.


Did you know? Maureen O'Hara lives in Glengarrif, only one hour north of Eyeries. Still a true trooper, her wonderful presense often graces the streets of that small town located only minutes from Bantry.


Getting to Eyeries

From Dublin - take the M8 to Cork. Drive thru the Jack Lynch Tunnel and follow the ring road around Cork City to the N22. Take the N22 toward Macroom. 1/2 mile before Macroom, take a left on the N78. Drive 1.5 hours to Ballylickey. Turn right. Go 5 miles to Glengarrif. Turn Left at signs for Castletownbere. Arriving in Castletownbere, take a right at the sign for Eyeries. Drive 100 yards and take a right onto the Eyeries road. Drive 4 miles. Take a left at the large sign for Eyeries.


International Travellers - can fly to Cork, Dublin and Limerick. Then take buses, trains, or car rentals to Eyeries.

Eyeries County Cork Family Festival!

Come one and come all! For the first time in 30 years, Eyeries - located on the picturesque Beara Peninsula in West Cork, Ireland - is holding a fun-filled Family Festival! Taking place from Friday 22 July 2011 - Sunday 24 July 2011, the Eyeries Family Festival 2011 is loaded with fun for all ages:

  • Film Festival (6 - 8PM)

  • Open Air Music with Jeremia Ger Harrington (7 - 9PM)

  • Open Air Street DJ and Music (9PM)
Sunday 24th July

  • Treasure Hunt (11AM 1PM)

  • Food and Craft Fair (1PM - 6PM)

  • Film Festival (3 - 5PM)

  • Darts Competition at Causkeys Pub (3PM until the wee hours)

  • Ceili Music and Dancing (5 - 7PM)

  • Open Air Music with Jeremiah ger Harrington/DJ on the Street (8 - 9PM)

  • And a final closing with music from Pat Fitz
